Boy oh boy, we are in for a doozy of a match. "Clash of the Underachievers," might I call it, between the Newcastle Knights and the Parramatta Eels. Both have been bumbling through the season with hopes of discovering a winning strategy. It’s round 11 and they are both loitering at the bottom of the league table. Now there’s a party you don’t want an invitation to.
But let’s tiptoe back into history for a moment. When the Eels and Knights crossed paths last year, it was a points buffet with the knights riding away gleefully with 34 on the scoreboard, leaving the Eels wondering where they left their game. Then again, who can forget the day in 2023 when the Eels smeared the field with the crushed dreams of the Knights? A memory that would bring a tear to a glass eye.
More recently, can't say the Eels have been swimming in glory. Going 1-4 in their last five games, they are about as threatening as a toothless shark. On the other hand, the Knights seem to have found some semblance of form, pocketing 2 out of their last 5, including a dominant display against the Rabbitohs.
Thinking about placing your bets, are you? Here we are then, the moment of truth. Looking at these teams right now, they're about as reliable as a chocolate teapot, but someone needs to come out on top and, God help me, I'm leaning towards the Newcastle Knights.
Albert’s Prediction: Newcastle Knights by 2
