Umm..let me pull out my crystal ball real quick. So, here we are, at another fine day of Nippon Professional Baseball and if you've been living under a rock, we've got Chunichi Dragons invading the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles' nest this time around.
Looking back in time, our mythical beast, the Dragons, have charred the Eagles quite decently winning two out of the three previous match-ups - the last one being quite an aggressive one with the Dragons emerging victorious by two clear runs. Maybe it's their fire-breathing capabilities or just the inability of the Eagles to use their wings, we'll never know.
But before we declare the Dragons the rightful rulers of this baseball universe, we should take a quick peek at their respective regular season records. Strangely enough, even though the Dragons have a better record than the Eagles, it's really not by much. With just one win separating the two, it's like comparing apples to slightly less shiny apples.
Recently, the Dragons have been performing their own rendition of the fairy tale 'Sleeping Beauty', with them playing the charming prince - knocking out teams in their last three matches including Sunday's victory over the Chiba Lotte Marines. Now, that's a mouthful, isn't it?
On the other side of the coin, well...the Eagles seem to be having their wings clipped. They've been grounded by their opponents in recent matches and are in desperate need of some 'eagle therapy'. Perhaps a few episodes of discovery channel's 'Birds of Prey' might do the trick?
And what's in it for you, if you've got some change to spare? Judging purely by statistics and recent form, one might have had better odds betting on the public accepting pineapple on a pizza than relying on the Eagles to draw first blood in this encounter. Eagle-eyed punters might notice the tasty returns on the Dragons given their stout defensive prowess of late.
My sources don't give me any playoff data, but do we really need it by this point?
So, time for the big prediction, drumrolls, please...
