Saitama Seibu Lions by 2Seriously folks, strap in - this Nippon Professional Baseball game showcases the Saitama Seibu Lions hosting the Tokyo Yakult Swallows. Based on our friend "the numbers", the Swallows have had a rough season, sporting a less-than-stellar 14-32 record. Their recent results seem to indicate an addiction to losing, so maybe steer clear of them in your friendly office pool.
The Lions, on the other hand, have a respectable regular season record of 28-23. Nothing to parade down the streets for, but it's certainly something. I'd also like to politely remind you that the past matchups between these two teams appear to be a stalemate.
Now, judging by the Swallows' recent track record, they almost seem to have taken it as a personal challenge: how quickly can they snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Their recent one lov- sorry, loss- to the Lions coupled with a losing streak, makes them about as tempting as last year's egg salad right now.
The Lions though, they've given us some mixed signals. Their recent run of results is a bit like a politician's promises - inconsistent. But, let’s not forget they managed a sneaky, single-point win against our underbird - er, underdog Swallows.
So, assuming the Lions don't come down with sudden-onset, synchronized bat blindness, I'd hand this one over to the Saitama Seibu boys, with the Swallows waiting in the wings for any unexpected scraps.
