Looking at the game we've got tonight and, oh boy, it's a doozy. We have the Chiba Lotte Marines stepping into the ring against the Chunichi Dragons. Or, as I like to call this matchup, 'The Time Skippers against The Fire Breathers'. They've got some history, our friends, and lately it's been the Marines who've been enjoying the bragging rights, knocking off the Dragons in a couple of recent bouts.
That being said, it would be wrong of me not to mention that our dear Marines have been doing a bold impersonation of a stranded fish out of water during the regular season with a staggering 19-31 rather lopsided record, finishing on the wrong side of the win column. But hey, there's always the upside of lower expectations, right?
On the other hand, we have the Dragons who've been consistently inconsistent but still holding a slightly better record than the Marines. While their flame has flickered a bit in recent games against the predatory Hawks, they have proved their mettle against Erik Barnes, winning a couple of games - perhaps not a total meltdown after all.
Now, I could sit here and list out pros and cons for both teams, but I'd much rather save the time and the crushing boredom that would inflict upon you all. So here's where I see the chips falling tonight. The Marines have recent wins on their side, but they are certainly more accustomed to the taste of defeat. The Dragons, however, have a more balanced record, but have had their fire quenched in recent games. But as we know, dragons do possess a knack for rising gloriously from the ashes, and let's not forget who's playing with the home turf advantage this time!
Ladies and gents, putting all my chips on one scale, I’ve crunched the numbers, tossed the salads, and consulted with my grade school fortune teller just to make sure.
