Ah, the old ball game, it never fails to keep us on our toes, does it? You might want to tuck your cup of joe aside for this coming face-off folks. Look here, we've got the Tokyo Yakult Swallows fluttering all the way to the Saitama Seibu Lions' den. Just delightful, isn't it?
You know, those Swallows had the Lions for lunch in their previous encounters last year: a 3 to 1, a 7 to 2, and to top it off, a 4 to 3. As in, a tough time for the Lions, ladies and gentlemen.
But alas, life is not a series of past encounters, is it? Our dear feathery Swallows haven't been having such a joyride this season. With a dismal record of 14 to 31, I've seen better performances from my grandma's pet parrot. Injuries, miscommunications, it's as if they're majoring in messing up!
Swinging our gaze over to the Lions, despite their past history – or should I say, 'herstory' with the Swallows, the elegant beasts are reigning supreme with a regular season record of a cushy 27 to 23. It seems lady fortune really believes in giving them a second chance. Let's not forget their recent run-in with the Buffalo and Golden Eagles, ending with an overall positive result for the pride.
Given how dismal those Swallows are faring, it's not a daring gamble to say those Lions are going roar onto the scene with full force, gulp down a few worms and claim this game as theirs. These are Lions we are talking about, remember. They're not exactly known for their gentle nature now, are they?
So, here it comes, the long-anticipated, the utterly unpredictable, and the only reason you guys are still listening to my drivel:
