My Prediction
Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles by 2Ah, Japanese baseball, the sport where you realize just how many ways there are to whack a small rubber sphere with a wooden stick. Now, looking at this matchup pitting the Chiba Lotte Marines against the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles, it's like watching a heavyweight fighter go up against... well, someone's grandma.
The Marines haven't had the best run of it recently, more like they've been running into a brick wall head-first. Their regular season record is about as exciting as boiled cabbage, not making for fantastic dinner conversation.
Now, the Golden Eagles on the other hand. Sure, they're not exactly doing the moonwalk across the bases with their 17-19 record, but they've certainly had the edge in previous encounters with the Marines. They've taken three of the last five matches, which is a clear indication that they've cracked the Marines' code or they've just stumbled upon a four-leafed clover field.
The recent results for both teams do show a struggle in the last few games; I mean, the Golden Eagles were put through the wringer by Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters. But even with that, they've managed to keep their composure against the Marines.
So, as I rub my crystal ball and try to ascertain the future, let's be honest, my magic wand seems to point out the glaringly obvious.
