Red Wings have two notable brick walls in the net. Cam Talbot's really been in the zone this season, snuffing out shots with a 92.1% save rate. His sidekick, Alex Lyon, may not have the best percentages, but, hey, he's still there, blocking slapshots left and right.
Devils counter with Jacob Markstrom and Jake Allen between the pipes. Allen has had warmer seasons, I'll tell ya, but at 90.6% saves this season, is not to be taken lightly. Markstrom, at 90.1%, has been solid, but not exactly sensational recently.
Detroit's offensive power rides on the shoulders of Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat. Bloodhound Patrick Kane sniffed out the net 21 times and added 37 assists this season. DeBrincat, the Cat himself, was even deadlier with 37 goals and 31 assists.
But no talk of goal-seekers would be complete without hailing the Devils Nico Hischier and Timo Meier. Hischier's put together a tidy 35 goals and 33 assists this season; while Meier, with a well-balanced 27 goals and assists each. Quite an impressive tag team, you ask me.
In previous engagements, it's been a real toss-up between these two squads - like trying to predict whether your morning toast lands butter side up. Neither team dominates, whispering of a tight race and intense moments.
Taking into account the regular season records - Red Wings and Devils have had a almost mirrored fate, with the Devils jingling a few victories more. Recent games are a testament of their identical patterns of wins and losses, again giving no discernable edge.
