Alright folks - oops, scratch that. I mean, hey there, hockey fans. We've got a match up for the ages. Chicago Blackhawks are descending upon the Ottawa Senator's icy domain and boy, it's going to be as intense as a Canadian winter.
Between the pipes for Chicago we've got Spencer Knight, who's been juggling rubber like a circus clown with a solid 90% save rate this season. Then we've got the Swedish wall, Arvid Soderblom, blocking flying disks like a pro with the same 90% save rate. On the Ottawa side, it's impressive to see Linus Ullmark with a fancy save percentage of 94.1% for this season and his wingman, Anton Forsberg, isn't too shabby either with a 90.6% save rate.
When you're talking about knights in shining armor for the Blackhawks, Ryan Donato just pops right in your head with his 31 goals and 29 assists this season. Ilya Mikheyev hasn't been enjoying long slumbers either, with 20 goals and 14 assists, balanced out nicely. Lastly, let's not forget Teuvo Teravainen, who isn't the greatest at lighting the lamp this season, but can pass a puck better than I can pass salt at dinner with 42 assists to his stat list.
As for Senators, I must say Tim Stützle has been showing up not only on time, but also at the right places with 23 goals and an impressive 52 assists. Young Jake Sanderson is proving his worth with 11 goals and 44 assists, while Thomas Chabot has been pulling strings from the back with 36 assists this season.
Now, historically these two teams have a ‘Rocky vs. Apollo’ type of narrative going on, having traded blows pretty evenly over the past few years. A glance at the regular season records can tell even a novice that Senators have been more consistent with 44 wins as opposed to the Blackhawks’ 23.
Their recent match results also tell a similar story. The Senators, with their recent wins, seem to be in better form, compared to the Blackhawks who have been a bit like my indecisive friend Sally, going back and forth between wins and losses.
Consider all this statistical spinning, let's skate to the point: based on everything that matters, and a couple of things that don't, one can put a chicken bone on the Senators skating away with this one.
Albert’s Prediction: Ottawa Senators by 2.
