Ah, the smell of ice and the echo of the buzzer – isn't it fabulous? The New Jersey Devils will be squaring off against the Boston Bruins in what promises to be a sweaty-knuckled standoff. Comprised of relatively even titans, the outcome will be anyone's guess.
Well, not really.
The Devils have easily dazzled this season, currently holding a record of 41-7-32. The Bruins, with their 33-9-39 looking rather blotchy in comparison. It's like watching a seasoned professional go against a part-timer hoping to pay their rent on time.
Let's talk about our net guardians here, and oh boy, we've got some! The Devils side boasts the likes of Jacob Markstrom and Jake Allen who've been stopping pucks like they've got personal vendettas against them. Meanwhile, in the Bruin's camp, there's Jeremy Swayman and Joonas Korpisalo who seem to be in a constant debate on who lets more goals in.
Onward to the stars, and my, aren't the night skies on both sides busy? The Devils might as well write their grocery lists with Nico Hischier and Jesper Bratt, given their consistent net-busting achievements. Even so, the Bruins have their own gems. Elias Lindholm and Pavel Zacha have been quite the pair with their assists and foundational play.
Moving on to the past, in the last few meetings between these two, it appears the pendulum has swung favorably for both sides. Quite the love-hate relationship, don’t you think?
Recent permits let us look at recent form. The Devils have been rather patchy, but they're still doing a decent jig on the ice. The Bruins, similarly, are maintaining momentum, but whether it's in the right direction is a chat for another day.
Now, based on my vast broadcasting wisdom paired with some secret sauce (*not literally*), I've summoned forth a prediction from the hockey gods. The underdogs, the Bruins, maybe because it's a full moon or simply just to prove a point, will pull off an upset.
Albert’s Prediction: Boston Bruins by 2
