Florida Panthers by 2If you're looking for a hockey matchup as enticing as a root canal, boy do I have a treat for you. The Florida Panthers are heading to chilly Canada to try and make the Ottawa Senators say uncle.
Sweeping the crease for the Panthers, we got Sergei Bobrovsky who’s been playing like a man with ice pumping in his veins with a season save percentage of 92.2. His backup, if we can even call him that, Vitek Vanecek is maintaining an 88.3 save percentage. On the Canadian side, we got Ullmark and Forsberg, a pretty decent pairing. Ullmark boasts a solid season save percentage of 94.0 while Forsberg keeps up with 90.2.
Prowling on the Panthers' side, the notable cats are Sam Reinhart with a season haul of 38 goals and 40 assists, Sam Bennett with an even 25-25 for goals and assists, and Aleksander Barkov with a commendable 48 assists. As for the Senators, they've got some firepower in Drake Batherson, he’s been playing like he made a deal with the devil with 21 goals this season. The young gun, Jake Sanderson, holds our attention with a whopping 41 assists and we cannot forget Brady Tkachuk, the pride of the prairies, coming in with a solid 28 goals under his belt.
Looking at their previous parleys, the Panthers and Senators have conducted five symphonies of violence in recent times, with the Floridians taking the prize in three out of five. The regular-season records also give the Panthers a whisker edge with 44-4-27 over Senators' 40-6-29.
Coming down to their recent matches, the Panthers have been singing the blues, looking like their skates are on the wrong feet with 3 losses in their last 5 offerings. On the other hand, the Senators have been replicating Rocky's training montage, taking 3 wins in their last 5.
Taking the goalkeepers, some not so top players, their past performances, regular season records, and recent results into reckoning, I’d say the Senators would have to pull some real "Miracle on Ice" level performance to overcome the Panthers' persistence.
