The Philadelphia Phillies are heading to the Oracle Park in San Francisco for an intriguing rendezvous with the Giants.
Now let's talk pitchers. The Phillies are counting on Cristopher Sanchez, who comes in hot with a 2.64 ERA and a WHIP of 1.14. Sanchez certainly knows how to make batters miss with his 9.8 K/9. On the other side, the Giants will hand the ball to Landen Roupp. Not a bad choice with his 3.76 ERA and 1.51 WHIP, but going up against the Phils, he might find the going tough.
In the batting lineup, Philly's got some superb talent. Starting with the man of the hour, Brandon Marsh is hitting an impressive .319 and has brought home 8 runners. J.T. Realmuto and Kyle Schwarber have also been delivering when it matters. The Giants have got some firecrackers of their own. Watch out for Willy Adames and Mike Yastrzemski. Though their stats, might be trailing a bit behind their Philly counterparts.
Previous face-offs between these two has been a mix of fortunes. Oddly enough, the away team seemed to have the upper hand more often. Couple that with the Phillies' strong regular season showing and the steady flow of recent victories, I'm leaning towards the East coasters.
Looking at the Giants, they have done fair but fall short when compared to the Phillies' exceptional performance keeping the Regular season record and the recent games into context.
I suppose it boils down to which team bats better in Oracle Park. But given all the factors, I find it hard not to back the visitors.
