The Astros will be pinning their hopes on Colton Gordon, whose numbers, while not exactly enthralling, certainly put him in a decent position to make a mark on this game.
Switching gears to the batters, we've got some heavy hitters in the ranks. For the Astros, our attention is caught by Cameron Smith and Isaac Paredes. Smith, with his impressive 0.362 batting average and 22 RBIs, alongside Paredes' consistent performance with 15 RBIs and 6 homers, have shown some excellent form this past season.
Stepping up for the Dodgers, it's Miguel Rojas and Will Smith taking center stage. Rojas has been on fire, wielding a 0.385 batting average and batting in 7 runs, while Smith sits pretty with a sturdy 0.351 average and an impressive 14 RBIs.
Peering into the annals of past matchups, we do see a bit of back and forth between these teams, with a slight edge going to the Astros most recently. However, as we all know, the performance of yesteryears only gives us so much to speculate. The Dodgers' regular season track record outshines the Astros with a 56-34 win-loss ratio, as against the Astros' 54-35.
Reviewing the teams' most recent outings, the Astros have a momentum-building victory over the Dodgers themselves under their belt, which might just give them a leg up in confidence. The Dodgers, though, besides a couple of hiccups against the Astros, have been in good form as well, taking down Chicago in three straight games.
Taking all of this into account, I sense the Dodgers, despite their recent upsets, drawing strength from their home field, their stronger regular season performance, and looking to rectify those defeats at the hands of the Astros.
