Okay, strap in folks, it's the Los Angeles Angels hitting the road to face the Toronto Blue Jays up north in the Rogers Centre. Now, I won't bore you with ballpark statistics but just remember that it's a bit of a pitching paradise, so our hurlers should be rubbing their hands together with glee.
The Angels are sending Jack Kochanowicz to the mound. The guy is sporting a 5.56 ERA for the season with a WHIP of 1.58 but, let's just say, has seen better days. The Jays, on the other hand, will have fireballer Max Scherzer - now there's a name to reckon with - taking the bump. His season ERA and WHIP stand at 4.85 and 1.15 respectively, and he's only made three appearances this season. Still a pretty sight better in comparison with his Angelic counterpart, I'd say.
Let's take a quick glance at the Angels' heavy hitters. Jo Adell and Nolan Schanuel, both of whom have been splendid wielding the willow. Adell, in particular, boasting a .314 batting average alongside 24 RBIs and a whopping 10 homers to boot.
The Blue Jays aren't without their own set of hot hands though. They've got the dynamic trio of Springer, Clement, and Barger, all putting up some respectable numbers. Special mention to George Springer leading the pack with a .333 average and 27 RBIs so far.
Looking at the history books, it's fairly evenly matched in previous encounters. Although, it's worth noting the Blue Jays came out on top last time these two met.
Their regular season records provide an interesting tally too. The Angels with a classic .500 at 43-43 and the Blue Jays are flying relatively high at 49-38. Now, recent results? Well, both teams are coming off a win, but the Jays are on a bit of a hot streak at the moment, the kind we'd all want a slice of.
Using this complicated mix of voodoo, tea leaves and just a simple guy's intuition, I gotta go for the Blue Jays on this one. I'm seeing them pulling away with their feathers puffed up, maybe by a couple of runs.
