And here we are again, folks. It's time for balls, bats and base runs. We've got the Cleveland Guardians heading over to face the positively sparkling Houston Astros in the ever vibrant Minute Maid Park in Houston.
Taking a gander at the pitcher's mound, we see Tanner Bibee show up for the Guardians. Bibee's clocking in with a 4.18 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. Not too shabby, but Houston's Hunter Brown is setting the charts ablaze with just 1.83 ERA and .91 WHIP. Yikes, the Guardians' batters might need to adjust their stances.
Just look out for Steven Kwan and Carlos Santana batting for the Guardians though, these men have definitely demonstrated their mettle last season, but will they be enough to face the Astros' fiery pitching today? Hard to say, as the Astros' pitcher is really rounding home with his stats, while the Guardians are just hoping for a bunt.
The Astros, however, have Cameron Smith with a handsomely hunky .345 and Jose Altuve who's been knocking it out of the park with 7 home runs this season. These heavy hitters can illuminate a scoreboard quicker than a 100 watt minute maid breakfast bulb.
Alright, historical pundits might raise a brow looking at the recent clashes between these two, where the Guardians just cinched a bit of a lead. But, the Astros are coming in hot with their suction-cup-grip on the recent winning streak, reminding everyone why they have a winning season record so far.
In fact, while the Guardians have been slumping it up back in Cleveland, the Astros have been on a starry winning tangent. If I had a nickel for every time the Guardians lost, I could fill a batting machine.
So with apologies to the good city of Cleveland, and the sure-to-be-heated fans, I reckon the home advantage will be put to good use by the firing Astros this time.
