My Prediction
Mensik in straight sets.As we crack open the discussion on the upcoming face-off between Jakub Mensik and Hubert Hurkacz, it's pertinent to consider how both players have been swinging recently. Mensik and his racquet have been showing quite the bromance on the court lately, scoring 2 love victories over such names as Marozsan F. and Gigante M. The only hiccup was at the hands of Cerundolo F., which was just close enough to remind him that he's mortal.
Hurkacz, on the flip side, has been throwing a bit of a rollercoaster party. Sure, he's netted victories over Giron M. and Martinez P., but the scoreboard has also shown him to be on the losing end against Bonzi B. and de Minaur A. Seems like he's still figuring out whether he's come to play tennis or check out the catering at the matches.
Now, I wouldn't say that seedings are equivalent to the Holy Grail, but they'd probably get Indiana Jones interested. Mensik is sitting pretty at 20 while Hurkacz is ten steps behind at 30. Must be difficult trying to catch up from behind, eh Hurkacz?
So, to sum it up for your little betting session over a pint of beer, here's my two cents. Unless Hurkacz is planning on pulling a rabbit out of his hat, which believe me, is tricky to do mid-game, or resigns to popping the Champagne before the fat lady sings, Mensik looks to be in the driver’s seat for this matchup.
