Well well, aren't we in for a treat ladies and gents? Upcoming is a fascinating Internazionali d'Italia standoff between Master Zverev himself and our little surprise package, Vilius Gaubas.
Now Zverev, ranked 2nd in this tournament, has been leading a bit of a seesaw-esque performance lately. His recent victory against Ugo Carabelli was expected, but that dark cloud of defeat at the hands of Cerundolo is still hanging over his head. Then again, he showed good form in his games against Davidovich Fokina and Bautista Agut. He's clearly got the skills to win, just needs to keep his head on straight.
On the other hand, Gaubas, our unseeded underdog, might seem like the wild card in this game, yet he's shown some impressive moves. Just check out his run so far; Shapovalov, Džumhur, Dellien, or Spizzirri didn't stand a chance. Yet let's not forget that stint where Mr. Rodesch showed him some tarmac. Everyone loves a little Cinderella story, but he will need some real magic against Zverev.
Both players are going to bring it, no doubt about it, but considering their performances and the stakes at hand, expect the unexpected, ladies, and gents.
Albert’s Prediction: Gaubas in 3 sets.
