Cerundolo in straight sets.Ah, the Internazionali d’Italia. Bask in the glory of a Round of 64 match. Ahem, Francisco Cerundolo and Nicolas Jarry, this ought to be a delight.
Let's start with Nicolas Jarry. Unseeded but not unnoticed - he's been driving the ball with gusto. Defeated Gaston a while ago, and an impressive win over Altmaier ensures he’s not here just for the pasta. But let's be fair, he hasn't been consistent. He's fallen to Dimitrov not once but twice, like a mozzarella stick in a hungry crowd.
Now onto our seeded gem, Francisco Cerundolo. He's the 17th seed and hellbent on proving he deserves it. Recent losses? Just to Ruud. The rest of his track record more spotless than a freshly cleaned pizza stone. Love-nothing over Zverev and a determined 3-setter against Mensik prove he has the gumption for this game.
I hope it blows some wild winds on the clay court, but given the past performances and tournament standing, I don't see any real struggles for Cerundolo. Jarry might offer resistance, but Cerundolo should come out tops, provided he doesn't decide to nap mid-match because we all know how Inspirational Rome can be.
