Bouzkova in 3 sets.As I study this lineup, I see a spirited contest on the horizon, folks. Marie Bouzkova, stone-cold tennis war machine ranking number 5 in this tournament and taking no prisoners. On the other hand, we've got the unseeded wild card, Xinyu Gao, punching above her weight class and showing she's not here to play country club tennis.
You scan Gao's recent play, it's a mixed bag. She put down Stojanović and Karatancheva with only a hiccup, but suffered losses to Rodionova and Martić. Not to ignore her victory over Koevermans, but the inconsistency is heading to her like a nicked tennis ball.
Meanwhile, Bouzkova, our monolithic wall of resolve has been showing similar patterns, but with an extra dash of hot sauce. Sure, she lost to Sabalenka and Blinková, no love lost there. Gauff also toasted her biscuits. But she smashed Sun and Kartal like nobody's business.
