Kenin in 3 sets. Just don't bet the farm on it!Oh, aren't we in for a wild time here at the Mubadala Citi DC Open? On the one side, we've got Sofia Kenin aka the darling of the bookies, whose form recently looked as erratic as my Aunt's poodle trying to learn Bach on the piano. She's had a smidge of success by scrapping past Townsend and Tomljanović but notably has run into some brick walls too.
Then we have our diamond in the rough, Hailey Baptiste. Unseeded, welcome to the party pal! Baptiste isn't exactly dominating the court herself, but she's shown some flashes of brilliance.
Oh and the seedings? Is Sofia Kenin is coming in at number six really worth a heaping hotdog of praise? It seems as substantial as a jellyfish umbrella in a thunderstorm, given her current form.
So here's the crux of the biscuit. Kenin has the skills, we've seen them before, we know they're around somewhere, probably in the back of the drawer next to the odd socks. Baptiste has the underdog vibe going, and we all know tennis loves an underdog!
Where's my money going? Drum roll please... The current form indicates Baptiste, but you can't discount the fight of a seeded player like Kenin, despite playing like she's blindfolded and backwards.
