My Prediction
Paolini in 3 setsI'll tell you this, tennis is a funny game, less predictable than a cat on a hot tin roof. You've got Jasmine Paolini and Elina Svitolina going toe-to-toe on the Roland Garros clay. Now, the number's might make you tilt towards Paolini, after all she is our number 4 seed and let's face it, she's been showing these courts more love than a romantic french film, with a mighty impressive run so far.
Svitolina though, she's no chump. A 13 seed in her own right, she's been through the wringer and come up clean as a whistle on the other side. Her dives, though less flashy, have been as solid as they come. She's notched up 2 victories against Paolini, which let's face it, is one more than Paolini has over her.
But I'll tell ya, past is past, and present is where the game is at. Paolini has been attacking these matches like an all-you-can-eat buffet, winning 'em straight sets without breaking much of a sweat. And though Svitolina has mirrored her efforts, I can't help but place a bit more weight on the Italian's end of the scale.
So buckle up for this, 'cause I'm calling Jasmine Paolini to take this one home to Mama Italy. Yet, given Svitolina's track record, I don't expect her to hand it over without a fight. So I'd say, Paolini takes it, but she'll need all three sets for it.
