Andreeva in straight sets
My word, don't you just love quarterfinals? Today's match has Lois Boisson, a plucky underdog, unseeded as they come, going up against the 6th seed, Mirra Andreeva.
First, let me say that Boisson, bless her, has been throwing punches, winning most recent games in three sets. She's been in the ring with Mertens and Pegula, winning both in a tussle. However, Boisson lost a match over a month ago to Uchijima, so you could say she's had her love taken away.
On the other side of the net, you have Mirra Andreeva. Now, if she was a supercar, she'd be a Lamborghini, fast, aggressive with solid control. Takes out her games in straight sets, like she's having a Sunday stroll. Won her last four games without breaking a sweat, against the likes of Krueger and Bucsa. However, she did hit a bump, losing to Gauff. But that’s old news. We are here, in the now!
Seed wise, it's clear who is more favored. I mean, Boisson isn't even seeded. You've got to feel for her, thrown into the lions' den, but that's tennis for you, no pity parties here.
So, Mason's cornered drying towel who will take this to the bank? I'd say, given her recent form, seed advantage, and an apparent lack of fear streak, it's Andreeva who is the superior geek in this tech convention.
Without further ado, let me flip the prediction coin. And, yes, as expected, it's tails - which for no conceivable reason corresponds to Andreeva.
Albert’s Prediction: Andreeva in straight sets
