Gauff in straight sets.Ah, the sweet smell of clay, the melodious thud of tennis balls; Roland Garros is in full swing, and we find ourselves with the promising tie between young dynamo Coco Gauff and the tenacious veteran, Ekaterina Alexandrova.
In their past tête-à-tête on the court, it has been a teeter-totter, but Coco leads with her 2-1 advantage. The last meeting with Alexandrova was a love story, at least for Gauff, as she schooled Alexandrova in two elaborate sets.
For recent results, Gauff appears to be on a hot streak, only one blemish in her recent records, a loss to Paolini. That's a rare sight, as endangered as a snow leopard in the Sahara. Alexandrova, on the other hand, has also seen a decent string of recent victories but did dancingly stumble against Uchijima.
Now, fasten your seatbelts because it's seed status time. The energetic Gauff is seeded 2nd in contrast to Alexandrova who is straddling 20th seed. And if numbers could show emotions, the number 2 would be grinning like a Cheshire cat, while 20 would be sulking with an existential crisis.
But enough of that, let's get down to brass tacks. Taking into account the payout data, the history, the recent forms, and those cheeky seeding numbers, I am more inclined towards Gauff here. While Alexandrova can unleash surprising upsets once in a blue moon, Gauff has the edge.
