Gauff in 3 sets.Not letting the cat out of the bag too early here, but looking at the Roland Garros quarterfinals through my not-so-rosy glasses, we have a tantalizing encounter between Madison Keys and Coco Gauff on tap. Let's get into the sauce.
Now, past interactions between these two have undeniably shown that Madison has a slight edge over Coco, having celebrated victory twice, compared to Coco’s single 'love letter' in return. But let's not forget she served a duck egg to Madison in one of those wins.
Then again, it's crucial to look beyond just the numbers and consider the players' current form. Young Miss Gauff has sashayed her way into the quarterfinals with four back-to-back straight-set victories, making clay her red carpet. Bit of a hiccup before the tournament, yes, but her stride since then can best be described as Cocolicious!
Now, looking at Madison, she hasn't been a slacker either. After all, you don't land in the quarterfinals just by chance. She too routed her last four opponents. A minor bump against Kenin, sure, but this isn't a joy ride folks, it's grand slam in Paris. There was a heartbreak against Stearns before arriving here in beautiful France, but Aussies do have that effect on people.
Now, normally, I'd be rooting for the underdog here and no doubt, Madison packs some serious thunder in her swings. However, considering Coco's enchanting run and her seed advantage, she's got momentum on her side. They say you don't fight the current, you ride it, and right now Coco's riding the wave.
