Swiatek in 3 sets.Alright dear listeners, it's Albert here and we all know why you're tuned in, you want to know who's going to take home the bacon in the Roland Garros semifinal. So let's get into it.
We've got Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek on the chalk, and a real popcorn match if I've ever seen one. Of course, the betting houses are favoring our Belarusian bulldozer Aryna, and why wouldn't they?
Looking back at previous match-ups, we have some love lost between the two competitors. Sabalenka may be the number 1 seed, but Swiatek has brought home some W's in their previous encounters, held her own, and even tossed Aryna for a loop. Their head-to-head seems to be the teetering scale of a playground see-saw, with the score sitting at 3 to 2 in Swiatek's favor.
Swiatek has definitely been earning her crust lately, but let's not let that overshadow Sabalenka. Of course, recent victorious battles she fought were against players not ranked as high as Swiatek, but as they say in sports, a win is a win. Swiatek, however, has been facing off against some higher-ranked opponents and still has the same unblemished recent record. Makes you think, doesn't it?
Looking at the recent form, there are no free lunches. Sabalenka has been bulldozing her way through, but without really breaking a sweat, which you'd expect from the top seed. On the flip, our Polish powerhouse Swiatek has also been holding the fort, going toe to toe with the cream of the crop and showing them who's boss.
Putting all these ingredients into the seasoning pot, I'm calling for a real barn burner folks. My gut is telling me this contest is going to a decider. We're not going to see a straight sets victory here. I reckon it's Swiatek who's going to edge it out and send Sabalenka packing.
