Navarro in straight sets.
I'd love to share some insight on the Emma Navarro vs Zeynep Sönmez matchup. Sönmez, quite the dark horse here, comes in unseeded, an advantage that's about as helpful as a chocolate teapot. She recently managed to stump Linette and Sakkari, no small feat considering these players' calibre. On the other hand, Sönmez also did the splits with Kostyuk and Zarazúa, shifting her momentum from a galloping stallion to a hesitant pony.
Onto Navarro, who's the number 1 seed, and boy does it show. She's been tearing up the court like a cat on a new sofa. Sure, she’s had a few speed bumps recently, losing to Cîrstea and Fernandez, but her wins against Martić and Bencic - well, that’s quite the rhinestone on the cowboy hat!
Such a shame these two titans found each other in the quarterfinals. However, walking down memory lane, Navarro graciously turned Sönmez into her own personal punching bag last May, a clawing defeat Sönmez is likely eager to overturn like a bad omelette, but doubtfully able to.
So, for all those who wouldn't mind a gamble, grab your wallets because I say we are looking at a straight sets victory here. Navarro's experience, form, high seeding... it’s like a shiny red 'STOP' sign for Sönmez.
Albert’s Prediction: Navarro in straight sets.
