Sabalenka in straight sets.
Ah, the Australian sun has never shone more brightly as we prepare for an intriguing matchup between Aryna Sabalenka and the underdog, Jessica Bouzas Maneiro. And by intriguing, I mean akin to watching a kitten spar with a full-grown lion.
Sabalenka, our tournament’s top-seed, has been playing like she's signed a pact with the tennis gods, recently leaving formidable opponents to eat her dust. In contrast, Bouzas Maneiro, sweet kid that she is, hasn't demonstrated the same level of killer instinct, swapping wins and losses like an indecisive trader and, unfortunately, unseeded here in Melbourne.
Now, the swift and bouncy nature of Melbourne Park's surface does little to help our Spanish lass, Bouzas Maneiro. It's truly Sabalenka’s field day out here. Our Belarusian powerhouse is as comfortable on hard courts as a kangaroo in the outback, using that high bounce and her power play to keep her foes at love.
Bouzas Maneiro might have a mountain to climb, but in tennis, as we know, there are no assurances. Well apart from taxes and Sabalenka making early morning pancakes out of unseeded players, it seems.
Albert's Prediction: Sabalenka in straight sets.
