My Prediction
Hanshin Tigers by 2Ah, the sweet strains of Nippon Professional Baseball. This time we've got the Tokyo Yakult Swallows up against the Hanshin Tigers. Now if you've been paying attention lately, you know that the Tigers have been swiping those baseballs like they've mistaken them for balls of yarn. Their current season record of 49 wins to 32 losses does a lot more than just generate a bit of hullabaloo, it spews confidence all over the place.
On the flip side, feel free to spare a thought for those poor swallows. With a sorrowful record of 24-48, one wonders how they've even managed to keep their feathers unruffled. Let's just say, it's been a turbulent season for these birds.
Taking a looksee at the recent games, might I add that recency has a funny way of messing with the objectivity - and it's clear to see, the birds have caught a bit of wind under their wings lately.
Ironically, it seems the Tigers found themselves playing 'catch' with the Swallows in their most recent encounter, which the Swallows won.
Still, don't let the Swallows' latest victory sing you a siren's song. If we scrutinize their head to head encounters, we've got the Tigers mauling the Swallows three out of the last five times. Driven by their more potent overall performance, the Tigers are likely licking their chops at the prospect of feasting on Swallows yet again.
So, if you ask me, history and the law of averages favor the Tigers. But be prepared, the Swallows might just swoop in where it counts.
