Now, I know we're all about our numbers and statistics here, and looking at these might as well feel like reading The Matrix to some of you. I can sympathize. But let's not pretend we're swordfish while we're still sucking out of straws, shall we?
The Saitama Seibu Lions and the Chiba Lotte Marines are the stars of tonight's baseball sequin studded, glitz filled extravaganza. If we rewind and dig into the annals of history, well...not that far back, just a couple recent games; you'll notice the Marines had quite a splutter, splatter, and splutter again against the Lions. Couple of high scoring games there, if we're talking about the Lions, that is.
But let's not put our eggs in one basket here. The Marines did make the Lions dance a little jig in the not so distant past as well. That being said, regular season records tell a slightly different tale, with the Lions prancing ahead with an average-ish 40-39 while the Marines languish at 30-46.
As for the recent results, the Lions seem to be mingling with middle ground while the Marines are bobbing up and down like a beach ball at a Nickelback concert. All in all, it's like comparing apples to slightly bruised apples.
So, who'd come out on top in this monumental match-up? Yeah, might look like a bit tricky question, but sticking to the facts, not intuition or wishful thinking, I gotta say:
