Ah, the exciting on-pitch rivalry between the Yomiuri Giants and the Tokyo Yakult Swallows. Now if you've been paying attention, ladies and gentlemen, you might remember the last three back-to-back lashings the Giants inflicted on the Swallows. A close one, a humiliating one, and yet another close one. A trilogy of sorts. But don't let my film references misdirect you, that was in late March, so the question now is: "How long does an international call last?" Ehem, excuse me, I meant: “How long does a winning streak last?”
But before we head down memory lane, let's look at the lay of the land. The Giants are sporting an 8-8 record and the Swallows, well, they're not really soaring high with a 5-7 record. Don't they say numbers never lie?
Oh, and let’s take a quick tour down the recent game results. The Giants seem to be playing a tricky game of see-saw with their wins and losses. On the other hand, the Swallows appear to be in a game of musical chairs, except it looks like they're losing their seats a bit more often with majority losses in their recent games.
Now, in the grand spirit of fair play, I'm not one to judge a team solely based on their past endeavors. But, as my Nana used to say, "In the land of statistical analysis, past performance is kinda like a crystal ball." Or something like that.
So, we've taken a theatrical trip down memory lane, peeked around recent corner events, scanned the current health of our competition. Knitted all of our knowledge, stats, numbers, and Nan's wisdom into our flashy crystal ball. And the winner seems clear.
