All right, ladies and gentlemen, let's dive into this clash of gladiators between the Nashville Predators and the Philadelphia Flyers. Out from their respective caves, we have the Predators' guardian of the net, Juuse Saros, whose this season stats speak louder than my ex-wife's shouting: 1294 saves with a save percent of 91.1. If that’s not Greek god level goaltending, we need new myths. On the other end, our Flyers are placing their hopes on Samuel Ersson, pulling up at a respectable but lesser 88.1 save percent this season. Well, Saros might have to be there to hold Ersson’s goalie gloves when the bumpy ride starts.
Swinging their sticks like they are on a quest for the holy grail, we've got Filip Forsberg from the Predators and Matvei Michkov from the Flyers as the reigning knights of the hockey kingdom. Through thick and thin this season, Forsberg has been dutifully sending the puck home, racking up 28 goals and 40 assists while Michkov's been keeping the Flyers’ flag flying high with 24 goals and 32 assists.
History whispers that out of their last four face-offs, the Predators have had an upper hand, winning three. Sadly for them, though, being a history buff in hockey is like being the best dressed at a nudist colony. It’s of no help in the freezing rinks, my friend. What does matter is the Flyers have been outperforming the Predators this season with a record of 30 wins versus the Predators mellow 27. Recent results? Oh, well my favorite aunt has had a more exciting week than the Predators, winning just one out of their last five games, whereas the Flyers, still not quite on cloud nine, managed to bag three victories out of five.
So, ladies and gentlemen, hold onto your hats, or toupees, whatever's applicable. Considering the valiant combatants, the historical glories and the present grooves, here comes my shot in the dark prediction.
