Oh boy, time for a little SEC fun with the fifth-ranked Tennessee Volunteers taking a trip to Baton Rouge to face off against the sputtering LSU Tigers. Kinda like when your mom tells you it's time for the dentist, eh? You go because you have to, not because you're thrilled about it.
So we have the Volunteers, led by the two-headed monster of Zakai Zeigler putting up about 17 points a game in the recent run and Chaz Lanier... well, Lanier has been a bit a sleepy giant this season, hasn't he? Don't count him out though, with an average of 18 points per game, the man can certainly turn up the heat when he gets cooking.
Then, there are our underdogs, the LSU Tigers. Cam Carter and Jordan Sears are getting close to the 16 and 12 points each game, respectively, this season. However, one can't help but feel like a man on a diet at an all-you-can-eat buffet - something is clearly lacking here.
The Volunteers' recent battles with the Tigers have been more one-sided than a pancake, with the Tigers getting squashed both times. That's like calling an arm wrestling contest between Dwayne Johnson and your 10-year-old nephew a 'matchup'.
Tennessee comes into this with a 22-5 record for the season, making the Tigers 14-13 record look slightly bleaker than a rainy day in Seattle. Recent outings have also sung the Vols' praises with 3 wins in their last four games. The Tigers, on the other hand, have seen more fluctuations than a broken elevator trying unsuccessfully to reach the penthouse.
Well, I'd love to tell you the numbers lie, but my dry cleaner is more likely to find a winning lottery ticket in my pocket than the Tigers toppling the Volunteers. This may feel like the uphill battle that Sisyphus perennially faced, but there can be only one victor.
