Arizona Diamondbacks by 2
Ah, the Giants and Diamondbacks. A classic postseason rivalry on paper, but when you dig a bit deeper? It's anybody's goddamned game.
The Giants are sending out Landen Roupp, a decent pitcher, solid without being spectacular. The Diamondbacks, however, have Merrill Kelly, who’s been just a smidgen better on the mound this season. In fact, he should feel pretty comfortable in Chase Field, where batters get only a tiny advantage.
Key players for the Giants? Well, feast your eyes on Dominic Smith's tantalizing last month stats. A .262 average isn't lighting the world on fire but those 8 RBIs are nothing to sneeze at. Don’t forget about Willy Adames though. Sure, the average is not there but the power most definitely is.
Contrast that with the Diamondbacks' Eugene Suarez and Ketel Marte. These gentlemen have been putting on a hitting clinic, making Congressional inquiries into fairness look absolutely justified. But remember, in our game of baseball, it's about more than just individual performances.
Looking at past encounters, it would seem the Diamondbacks enjoy the matchup, showing somewhat of a dominating pattern. I guess the Giants just aren't their kryptonite.
While more evenly matched in season records, the Diamondbacks have that 'slight' edge. Recent results? Well, let's just say that while the Giants have been rather frigid, the Diamondbacks are only lukewarm, having had a rough time against Miami before their recent surge against...oh yes, the Giants.
So, to bet or not to bet, that is the question. Who am I kidding? It's not a question at all. Let's all sit back and wait for destiny to play its hand.
