The Nationals are responding with their own knight, Trevor Williams, who currently sits at a 5.84 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP, and a slightly less impressive 7.1 K/9 after 16 appearances. Now, it doesn't take a genius to notice the better numbers belong to Mr. Holton.
Turn your attention to the highlights of both team rosters. We have the calorific Greene and Jones of the Tigers burning it up with batting averages in the mid-.350s, alongside Carpenter and Perez not far off with power stats to their names too. The Nationals answer back with Young and Abrams leading the charge, sporting a hearty batting average in the .300s.
Admittedly, both teams have playfully passed the bat around in their past matchups. The most recent meet-ups ending with the Tigers on top 2-1, though a win's a win, right? And then there's this tidbit—Regular Season Record. Tigers boasting a mighty 53-32 and Nationals, well, perhaps they've had better days, sitting at the less than ideal 35-49.
Truthfully though, might I add, recent results show the Tigers' paws clearly outperformed the National's wings with a 3-2 record compared to the National’s 2-3 in their last 5 games.
