Seattle Mariners by 2To all you baseball aficionados, a showdown of titanic proportions awaits us as the Kansas City Royals pull into T-Mobile Park to lock horns with the Seattle Mariners. As an added treat, this time it's away from home for the Royals, which could create an interesting dynamic, given the park's certain affinity for pitchers.
Our starting pitchers are Michael Lorenzen for Kansas City, bringing a regular season record with a 5.11 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP. On the other side of the diamond, the Mariners have Emerson Hancock on the hill who is charting his path through the season with a 5.42 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP. The numbers are so close you could cut the tension with a knife.
On the Royals side, we have a powerful lineup which includes Maikel Garcia and Vinnie Pasquantino who've been on a tear, sporting a 0.317 and 0.310 batting average respectively. Not to be outdone, Bobby Witt Jr. has been pretty impressive throughout the season, rounding off the trio. But alas, we can't forget about the Mariners. Their players are not exactly lightweights themselves. Cal Raleigh has been absolutely smashing with an impressive 0.305 batting average and a whopping 32 RBIs on his resume. Add the heavy-hitting duo of Donovan Solano and J.P. Crawford to the mix and folks, we got ourselves a game!
Looking back at the past matchups, it's been a see-saw; one could say, it's been an "I-won-now-you-win," kind of deal. Perhaps, the same unpredictable rhythm will continue.
Both teams seem pretty keen to improve their win-loss ratios. Considering the regular season records, the Royals stand at 39-45 while the Mariners are sitting a little prettier with a 43-40.
But let's remember, past victories don't guarantee future success, my friends. The Royals have recently been, let’s say, on rocky terrain while the Mariners have been playing give-and-take, but finished with a victory against Texas.
