My Prediction
Seattle Mariners by 3Springing right into this, folks, we've got the Kansas City Royals up against the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park. Now, that park is notorious for being a pitcher's dream and a batter's nightmare, so our hurlers today must be grinning ear to ear.
We've got Noah Cameron on the mound for the Royals. With a decent 2.89 ERA and 1.04 WHIP, he's not exactly a pushover. But then there's Logan Gilbert for the Mariners, now that's a starting pitcher! A staggeringly low 3.64 ERA and an even more impressive 0.94 WHIP. Oh, and did I mention the 13.6 K's per nine innings? Yikes!
Looking at the firepower on both sides, there is one name that sticks out, freshwater fish or not - Salmon, uh, Salvador Perez. The Royal veteran is batting .272 and has 20 RBIs and 5 home runs. Freddy Fermin, Vinnie Pasquantino, Bobby Witt Jr., they've got potential, sure.
But then we shift the spotlight over to the Mariners. Boy, have they stuffed their roster choc-a-block with talent. Donovan Solano's on fire; he's batting .370 and has 16 RBIs and 3 home runs. Randy Arozarena and Cal Raleigh ain't slouching either.
Talking about h2h, these two teams have kept it neck and neck in the past. Historically, they have been trading blows without a clear trend.
Season records? Mariners lead, but not by much. With the Royals at 40-46 and the Mariners sitting pretty at 44-41, it's not a yawning gap.
In terms of recent results, the Royals have been inconsistent, to put it politely. They look like a team that's forgotten which end of the stick to hold. The Mariners though, been a bit of a rollercoaster, yet they have shown sporadic sparks of brilliance - and that's what might just do the trick.
