Enough chit chat, let's get down to business. Kansas City Royals, they're opening their gates to the Tampa Bay Rays and boy are we set for an interesting matchup. Shane Baz is taking the mound for the Rays, while Michael Lorenzen graces the hill for the Royals. Both have had a somewhat rocky season with each boasting an ERA comfortably north of 4. Looks like whoever's been hitting their snooze button better wake up.
Speaking of wakeup calls, The Royals could mind a few. With their regular season record being underwhelming at just 38 wins and 41 losses, they are just two missteps short of winning as often as the Rays. Recent matchups giving us a mixed bag too, so let's not count them out just yet.
For the Rays, their lineup is brimming with power. Yandy Diaz and Junior Caminero, these two have been tearing the covers off the ball, complimented by good backup in the form of Brandon Lowe and Jonathan Aranda. Which brings me to Kansas City, Salvador Perez seems to be carrying most of the load with some help from up-and-comer Bobby Witt Jr and Maikel Garcia.
But if you've been tracking the recent wins, you'll know the Rays have been rolling. Coming off fresh wins against the Royals and a not-so-embarrassing face-off against Detroit, they seem to be in a groove.
A little birdie told me pitching is at a premium at Kauffman Stadium, which is not so great for batters. Might turn out interesting given the batting prowess of some of these players.
At the end of the day, the fates are whispering Tampa Bay Rays. They've been displaying a slightly stronger mettle and, well, who am I to argue? I'm guessing it'll be a tight one though, perhaps a 2 run margin. Rays fans, don't start celebrating just yet. I've been known to jinx a game or two.
Albert’s Prediction: Tampa Bay Rays by 2
