Well butter my biscuits and call me Susan, we've got an interesting game on our hands with the Los Angeles Dodgers heading over to play the Colorado Rockies at charming, but let's be honest, rather hit-friendly, Coors Field.
The Dodgers are taking ace Clayton Kershaw to the mound, and his whip and ERA this season are seeming pretty solid, considering his opponent. Ahem, and speaking of the opponent, the Rockies are countering with Austin Gomber. My dear Gomber here, with all due respect, seems to have had a rather tumultuous start with a rather colorful 8.80 ERA this season. Look, everybody has bad days. Unfortunately, Gomber's seemed to have stretched over a couple of appearances.
Let's take a look at the batters. Dodgers have some serious artillery in the form of Andy Pages, Will Smith, Max Muncy, and Shohei Ohtani. I mean, Pages? Knockin' it out of the park with a .349 batting average. Not to mention Muncy with those impressive 31 RBIs.
On the Rockies side of life, Tyler Freeman's batting average is singing sweet melodies with .390, but that's coupled with the not-so-melodious 9 RBIs. Hunter Goodman and Mickey Moniak, though not as melodious as Freeman, are keeping things in tune.
Moving on to memory lane, the recent past matchups between the two sides seem to heavily favor the Dodgers. Let's just say the Rockies might be getting some dread-filled deja-vu moments.
With respect to the regular season records, it looks like the Dodgers haven’t lost their touch, clocking in at 50-31; The Rockies, bless their hearts, seem to be stumbling through a bit of a rough patch with a record of 18-62.
So, to sum it up: better starting pitcher, fiery batting lineup, remarkable past matchups victories, and a notable regular season record. Unless the Rockies find a leprechaun hiding somewhere in Coors Field, I'd say the Dodgers are walking into this with a big ol' grin.
