If I didn’t know better, I'd say we're up for quite a show between these two California titans. We have the Los Angeles Dodgers taking on the San Francisco Giants, quite the clash indeed. This showdown's going down at Oracle Park, making the home field advantage lean ever so slightly to the side of the Giants. But we all know it takes more than home turf to secure a win, right?
Now to our boys on the mound. The Dodgers are starting with Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who's been throwing fire this season with a 2.82 ERA and 10.3 K/9 over 18 appearances. Not too shabby, Yoshi. On the flip side, the Giants have their hopes pinned to Robbie Ray. Strikeouts may not be his strong point compared to Yamamoto, but Ray's 2.64 ERA is nothing to scoff at.
The Dodgers' got a good roster hitting the plate. Players like Miguel Rojas and Will Smith are putting up some admirable stats. And let's not ignore Andy Pages, with his 18 RBIs and 5 home runs. Over on the Giants side, keep an eye out for Casey Schmitt and Willy Adames. However, Heliot Ramos's recent performance does raise a few questions, so concerns there for sure.
Casting our minds back a little, the previous matches between the two haven't been the very epitome of predictability, allowing margin victories as if they were giving away surplus Halloween candies. The Dodgers and Giants record might say the former has had a better run overall this season, but few recent stumbles surely had them questioning their approach, or lack thereof.
Time to call it I suppose. Considering all, Dodgers seem to hold a certain edge, but I doubt they'll runaway with a huge difference. The Giants aren't pushovers, and do have their moments under the sun.
