Now, if we turn our gaze towards this sensational AFL matchup, we land upon the Carlton Blues and Collingwood Magpies. The Magpies look to have been eating something more than just the occasional worm, given their superb form this season with 13 wins and a measly pair of losses. They're sitting pretty at the number one spot, leaving the rest of us mere mortals in their dust. They've been firing on all cylinders, churning out impressive scores left, right and centre.
By contrast, the Blues, well, they've got a record reminiscent of my high school report card - yo-yoing. Six victories with nine losses isn't exactly something to write home about. Eleventh in the standings places them higher than some, but it's like being the tallest dwarf at this rate.
If we glance at their past encounters, one can't help but notice it's more black and white than colored blue. These raised my eyebrows so much, they've joined my receding hairline up there. The Magpies have a record of triumphs against the Blues that could make a grown man cry.
However, navigating through the Blues' recent results, it looks like they're bouncing back with a bit of a 'wax on, wax off' pattern. They've a couple of noteworthy wins but have also taken some major hits.
Overall, the smart money appears to be on the Magpies. The Blues would have to really pull out all the stops, perhaps discovering how to clone their top player overnight to have a fighting chance. And I don't know about you, but I doubt they've got that in their back pocket.
