Taking a cruise through our data, it's quite evident that the Hawks and Demons have had some feisty encounters in the past, most of which have sadly ended with a sour taste for Hawthorn. However, their form book this season seems to sing a happier tune, and their position on the ladder casts a looming shadow over the meek number 15 held by Melbourne.
The Demons, however, might not be as demonic as they'd like. Notwithstanding the occasional scalp they've claimed, their performance pales in comparison to the fiery onslaught of the Hawks. It seems bravery can only take you so far in the face of an indomitable foe.
While we're on the topic, allow me to bring up the Hawks' recent clash of talons with Richmond, which ended up being a bit of a massacre. This fierce display of consistency, might just be enough fuel to the fire in their next encounter with the Demons.
So, given that Melbourne has seen recent success, it offers a ray of hope. But, their patchy sinew of inconsistency combined with the Hawks streak of dominance, leaves the Demons' chances smouldering in the embers. You know what they say: it's never a good idea to bet against a hawk in flight.
Without further ado, let me go ahead and cast my dice:
