Paolini in straight sets.Ah, tennis, a game of well-sliced spheroids and disgruntled line judges. Jasmine Paolini and Lulu Sun who, in my humble opinion, sound like they should be pop stars, are set to lock horns in the Round of 64 at the Internazionali d'Italia.
Paolini, seeded 6th and sounding as Italian as a guilt-tripping nonna, has had quite the run recently. Intercepted, however, by a few rough patches; precision-challenged Sakkari eliminated her with a 2 set love, and a powerful Sabalenka dished out the same. Not to be deterred, she showed Boulter, Gauff, and Niemeier the door with 2 set loves each.
On the other side of the net, our unseeded Lulu, who's inspection of the scoreboard has her more familiar with the term 'love' than anyone would care to be. Although she managed a 2-1 victory against Pedone and Gracheva, strong players like Kenin, Sherif, and Zheng showed no mercy, leading to her defeat.
Sure, anyone can have their day in the sun, unless your name is Lulu Sun in this case. This matchup seems as predictable as a soap opera plotline. Given Paolini's skillful dominance and higher tournament seeding, Sun might need more than a love potion number 9 to sway this match in her favor.
