For the love of Shaq's free throw percentage, we've got a barn burner on our hands, folks: The Phoenix Mercury, checking in at #2 in the WNBA, is rolling into town to take on our #1, the Minnesota Lynx.
Now, don't take my words lightly just because I can't dunk: Phoenix's Alyssa Thomas and Satou Sabally have been lighting it up this season. Thomas dished out 9.5 assists per game this season while still scoring 15.4 per. Sabally, not wanting to be left behind, averaged an impressive 19.1 PPG and hung up 7.7 rebounds. But let's not overlook DeWanna Bonner who's been a rebound magnet with 8.5 per game in the recent month.
On the other hand, Napheesa Collier of the Lynx is probably bending the rules of physics with infinity points and rebounds, or at least that's what the stats seem to say. But, let's not get carried away, as her last month’s stats show she brought in 22.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Courtney Williams trailed not too far behind with 15.8 points and 5.7 rebounds last month.
Looking at their head-to-head history, it's been a back-and-forth, with Phoenix clinching the most recent win 79-71.
In the season record department, the Lynx just managed to outshine the Mercury with a 19-4 win-loss record against Mercury's 15-6. In terms of recent games, the Mercury managed a close win against the Golden State Valkyries, while the Lynx pulled off a solid victory against Chicago Sky.
Without much further ado, I'd say the Minnesota Lynx is just a teeny bit more likely to bag this match.
