Sydney Roosters by 5You know you're in for a treat when the St. George Illawarra Dragons and Sydney Roosters lock horns. It's Round 19 of the NRL, and while both teams aren't exactly tearing up the standings this season, they've certainly had their fair share of tussles in the past, enough to get the juices flowing.
The Roosters have been a thorn in the Dragons' side, seeing off their fiery counterparts with some style in recent encounters, the kind of style that reminds me of a tango dancer with two left feet who's still outperforming everyone else on the dance floor. Expect the Roosters to stick with their feisty playbook. They're well-entrenched in the recent memory box of the Dragons, where the echoing 'cock-a-doodle-do' must still be ringing.
Looking at their recent records, both teams have had a seesaw journey. The Roosters displaying the consistency of a petulant child refusing to eat its vegetables and likewise, the Dragons haven't been breathing as much fire as they'd have liked, struggling at times to exhibit their winged might. Both teams will be eager to put on a good display, as they're not exactly blazing a trail in the competition standings at places 10 and 11 respectively.
However, taking the past matches and recent form into account, the Roosters might just have the edge in this one. I see them taking this rivalry and turning it into a raucous rooster-themed party. After all, Sydney loves to ruffle a few feathers.
