My Prediction
Canterbury Bulldogs by 7Ah, the North Queensland Cowboys versus the Canterbury Bulldogs, an iteration of David and Goliath in the rugby field, if you will. The Bulldogs, the titans that they are, sit comfortably at the #3 spot in the 2025 NRL Premiership, towering over the Cowboys, who are languishing at a somber #12.
Looking back at the recent results of the Bulldogs, we see a win-loss pattern as consistent as my inability to resist a second serving of chicken wings. Win against Rabbitohs, loss against Panthers, and so forth. Interesting, I suppose. But what we shouldn't bypass is their sturdy win against the Parramatta Eels, a commendable victory indeed. Are they tottering a bit, though? Who knows?
On the other end of the spectrum, the Cowboys have seen some rough days. You’d have more luck finding black cats in a coal cellar at midnight than finding a win streak for the Cowboys. That victory against the Gold Coast Titans is credible, but it's sunken beneath an ocean of defeats, most notably that thumping against the Dolphins and the Melbourne Storm.
Zooming in at the past encounters between our two teams, the Cowboys, despite their shaky performance this season, have held their own against the Bulldogs. However, it's the most recent game that catches my attention - a resounding victory for the Cowboys.
At the end of the day, sport isn’t about history - it’s about the present. Despite their previous triumphs, the Cowboys' recent underperformance is as conspicuous as a kilt at a nudist colony. The Bulldogs, with their superior overall performance this season, should theoretically topple the Cowboys, possibly with a triumphant howl...or bark.
