All right, you've got the Manly Sea Eagles and the South Sydney Rabbitohs going head to head once again in this delightful pantomime of sport that we call the National Rugby League. Now, if I'm being brutally honest, the Rabbitohs aren't having the best of seasons. They're languishing in the rear, sort of like a snail in a Formula 1 race. Low and slow, my friends, low and slow. They've only managed a rather sickly 6 victories in 16 outings and their recent results look as lively as a half-time meat pie.
The Eagles, on the other hand, are hovering just outside that oh-so-desirable top eight. They're fluttering their feathers, looking at the big time with big eyes, like a goldfish at a shark party. Even though their recent form has been a bit shaky, they had an impressive victory over the Wests Tigers which must have been as refreshing as a cold beer on a summer’s afternoon.
Now, these two have had a bit of a mixed bag in the head to head stakes, sort of like your grandma's knitting pattern. Some win here, a loss there. But the crucial point was the Eagles shutting out the Rabbitohs in their recent encounter, 36 to 24, which by my reckoning is a lot more one-sided than a coin toss.
So, wearable the eagle's talons, avoid the sinking rabbit hole and with the logical likelihood being what it is, I am prepared to predict the following:
