I have to say, it’s quite the pickle we find ourselves in with tonight's matchup, the Brooklyn Nets visiting the Charlotte Hornets. Brooklyn’s performance has been less satisfactory this season, but now doesn't seem to be the time for them to catch up.
The Nets have a pair of talented players, Cam Thomas and Cameron Johnson, who have been averaging almost identical scores of 24 and 19 points per game this season, respectively. Nic Claxton isn't just a pretty face either, as his rebounds are making him a key player. Still, the season record might give one pause before putting the Nets on a pedestal, currently sitting at 14 wins and 33 losses.
When we turn our attention to the Hornets, LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller are having quite a run this season. Ball has been on fire, averaging over 28 points per game, while Miller is not far behind with 21 points per game. But let's not forget Bridges, who has been crossing the river Styx and back with his 18.9 points per game and 7.3 rebounds. Sure, their recent losing streak and position of 14 in the Eastern Conference might dull the shine, but a rock is still a rock even covered in mud.
Remember those past matchups? The games might as well have been decided with a coin flip considering how close they were. The Nets have a slight edge here but it's so thin that a cat's whisker would provide more wiggle room.
All things considered, tying my thoughts up with a neat bow, I'd say that the Hornets have the upper hand this evening. They have impressively consistent players plus they have home-court advantage, and sometimes those hardwood floors can make all the difference.
