Ladies and gentlemen, grab your buckets of popcorn, we're in for a wild ride. Let's size up the brawlers. The Denver Nuggets sauntering into the paint with top players like the monstrous Nikola Jokic, who's been filling the stat sheets like a kid at an all you can eat buffet. In between him dishing out assists and hauling in rebounds, he's still finding time to drain buckets, averaging a whopping 32.2 points in the last month alone. Accompanying him are the likes of Aaron Gordon and Jamal Murray who've been steady contributors this season.
On the flip side of the hardwood, we've got the New Orleans Pelicans who've been playing like a bunch of flamingoes in penguin suits, struggling all season long. But hey, let's give credit where its due, CJ McCollum and Dejounte Murray have been working overtime, leading their team in scoring with 21.6 and 16.6 points respectively, over the last month.
Our retrospective goggles show us a pretty split history between these two teams, with the Pelicans snatching a victory in their last face off. But with Denver currently strutting their stuff at #6 in the Western Conference, compared to New Orleans pulling up the rear at #15, it's clear who's been packing the punches.
And while the bumpy recent results from both teams suggest that Denver have been playing leapfrog with success recently, the Pelicans have been roadkill on the speed bump that is the regular season.
So if I were to consider the state of affairs and put my money where my mouth is, I'd say supersonic speed is going to be unneeded.
