Alright, if you've been meticulously following the league, you'd know Memphis Grizzlies are having a nice little romp with a 19-9 season record. Impressive, huh? It's no coincidence they're sitting at number 2 in the Western Conference, making all those other teams look like paperweights. Their key filly, Ja Morant, despite a small hiatus due to injury, has been shooting the lights out with 21.2 points a season, outshining the sun on a number of occasions. Jaren Jackson Jr. is also not someone to mess with!
However, they're up against the Atlanta Hawks, who are sitting at 14-14 this season and 7th in the Eastern Conference. Not quite as impressive as the Grizzlies, I must admit, but don't let that fool you. They've got some real talent there. Trae Young has been rescuing damsels and dishing out assists like donuts at a car show – 12.2 per game this season. But alas, looks like we won't be seeing Young weaving any magic today because he's on the injured list. Yikes!
Now, let's look at the past encounters between these teams. The last three face-offs have been high scoring affairs with the Grizzlies winning two out of three, but the margins have always been razor-thin, just like my patience sometimes.
Taking all of this into account, I'd say the Grizzlies have more fire in their belly today. Losing Ja Morant is a big blow, but at least they still have Jackson Jr. and his nearly 22 points a game to look forward to. Sure, Memphis has potential syrup in their engine with the injury scare to Marcus Smart, but compared to Atlanta, who will be without their wizard Trae Young, the Grizzlies are merely faced with a minor hurdle. Say it with me now...
