Ah, the great contemporary rivalry of the soccer world – Inter Miami CF versus Nashville SC. Any betting man worth his chips might already have a gut feeling about this one, but let's break down the potentials for those of you slow on the uptake.
Inter Miami has Lionel Messi on their roster and, like a fine wine, Messi seems to get better with age. A performance rating of 9.25 and 4 goals within the last month, that's practically superhuman. His partner-in-crime, Luis Suárez hasn't been putting the balls in the net lately, scoring a big fat zero, but his passing remains useful. Watch out for Telasco Segovia too, who seems to be kicking up a storm with their 7.10 rating and half-decent shooting accuracy.
Nashville, on the other hand, is placing their hopes on Hany Mukhtar and Sam Surridge. Mukhtar's got a 7.77 rating and Surridge slotted 5 goals recently, decent enough to hold their head high. I must say though, Jeisson Palacios must have been practicing his passing in a sleeping bag because a 93.2% pass accuracy has got to be magic – not that it's doing them much good when it comes to scoring goals.
In the goalkeeping arena, Inter Miami's Ustari seems to have a slight edge over Nashville's Willis. Both recorded an equal number of saves, but Ustari boasts a higher rating. Nashvillians might be bit sweaty considering their history against Miami – they've lost 2 out of their last 4 matchups. On the plus side, Nashville’s” missing” and “doubtful” list is about as long as a kid's Christmas wishlist, while Miami is also missing a number of key players.
Taking a look at the recent performances, they’ve both been scoring wins, though I'd say Miami seems to have been hitting the back of the net more often. As the ol' saying goes, goals win games boys.
Alright, that's my two cents. This is not a horseshoes match, the close doesn't count. I'd say Miami's got a mean appetite for scoring, and Nashville has been a little wishy-washy lately. So, here's my prediction:
