Texas Rangers by 2In today's stunner of a match-up, we have the Texas Rangers playing visitor at Chicago's own Guaranteed Rate Field. If we're talking starting pitchers, we've got the Ranger's Mahle with a 1.49 ERA and 0.99 WHIP outperforming Sean Burke of the White Sox who's sitting on a 4.83 ERA and 1.57 WHIP. You don't need a calculator to figure out who's got the upper hand here on the mound.
But let's talk batting. We've got a trio of trouble for the Rangers with Haggerty, Jung, and Langford boasting considerable stats. The White Sox aren't exactly resting, either. Look out for Meidroth, Vargas, and Sosa. Oh, and let's not forget the stealthy Luis Robert Jr. with those 10 stolen bases under his belt.
Delving into yesteryears, the Rangers seem to have the White Sox's number, edge out the Sox in all of their last 5 match-ups. It's like they're playing tic-tac-toe and the Sox can't even find the board!
Taking a gander at their regular season records, the Rangers sit at a virtually even 25-26, but the White Sox, oh boy, they're in the red with a 15-35 record. They couldn't find a win if it was hidden in a pinata. You'd think they'd have a chance in home ground, but recent results show they've been struggling, losing 4 of their last 5 games. The Rangers aren't exactly showered in victories, either, but they've shown a tendency to keep games close.
All things considered, while the White Sox might have an edge in park factors, the Rangers have been more consistent overall. To all you betting folks, I'd hitch my wagon to the Texas team, especially taking their confident past match-ups into consideration.
